Symptoms of Mesothelioma

The earliest Signs and Symptoms of Mesothelioma are often mistaken for other, less dangerous, respiratory ailments. It is critical that you tell your Doctor if you were ever exposed to Asbestos so that he or she can begin to investigate further into whether or not you have Mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is most commonly misdiagnosed at first as a type of pneumonia. Some patients show no symptoms at all until the Cancer has advanced to a very late stage. Signs and Symptoms of Mesothelioma may take from twenty to fifty years after exposure to surface.


Pleural Mesothelioma Symptoms

Pleural Mesothelioma Symptoms may include:

  • Chest Pain (from mild to dehabilitating)
  • Persistant Dry Coughing
  • Prolonged vocal hoarseness
  • Coughing up Blood
  • Dyspnea (Shortness of Breath)


Less common Symptoms of Pleural Mesothelioma may include:

  • Fever
  • Nocturnal Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating at night)
  • Weight Loss


Peritoneal Mesothelioma Symptoms

Peritoneal Mesothelioma Symptoms may present slightly differently and can include:

  • Weight Loss
  • Constipation and Bowel Obstruction
  • Anemia (deficiency of healthy red blood cells)
  • Swelling of the Extremities - especially the feet
  • Swelling in the Abdominal (Stomach) area.
  • Lumps in the Abdominal area
